A.K. Worthington Motors Ahead with New M.D.

Former General Manager of Cave Wood Transport in High Wycombe, Julian Richards has joined Trafford Park Distribution & Warehousing leaders A.K.Worthington as Managing Director - Designate.

Mancunian Julian has joined the company at a time of consistent and impressive growth. A.K.Worthington have this month [September] become the fully-operational Northern Hub of the Fortec Pallet Distribution Network on the back of achieving ISO 9002 accreditation.

Chairman Tony Worthington explains the move:

"We have a marketing slogan - Handled With Care - which has become a by -word in an industry that traditionally doesn't! Our reputation as a progressive and performing company must be protected as we continue to grow. Julian's appointment will add strength to the existing management team."

Julian has worked in the transport industry for the past 22 years and was, until his latest appointment, responsible for National Distribution at five depots incorporating Distribution, Warehousing, Logistics and Sales, with a turnover of £12 million and a staff of 130.

"The reputation of A.K.Worthington in the transport industry has attracted a lot of very favourable comment in the last few years, so the opportunity to join the company and help take it up to the next division was just too good to pass over.

"As a prodigal Mancunian I relish the chance to come "home" and renew my love affair with Manchester City whom I have followed for years, albeit from a distance!"
